Chery Teabear Recall Issued by General Motors
A total of 1,116 Chery Teabear vehicles will be recalled due to an issue with the electronic dynamic braking assist system (EBS).
The recall comes after General Motors' subsidiary, Wuling Motor, submitted a plan for the recall to the National Market Supervision Administration.
Reason Behind the Recalls
According to officials, some of these vehicles are affected by software errors in their EBS systems. The clock reading issue occurs because the system calculates dates according to a 365-day cycle per year, rather than accounting for leap years. This results in incorrect date readings when December's last day is reached after a leap year.
Impact on Safety
Due to this issue, there may be problems with the EBS system operating correctly during periods of heavy traffic or difficult road conditions.
Fix for Affected Vehicles
GM intends to upgrade the faulty software within the EBS systems. Upgrades were already conducted in part of impacted cars, so no further action is necessary for these units.
Notice Period for Affected Customers
General Motors will reach out to relevant owners and provide updates regarding the recall via notice letters or by phone.
