On August 28, at the Ideal Automobile second-quarter earnings conference call, Li Xiang revealed that the Ideal brand expects to launch a new all-electric SUV model in the first half of 2025 to serve more family users. Regarding the upcoming all-electric SUV model, Li Xiang said he wants to solve two problems: one is the product's styling design, and one is to provide users with over 2000 supercharging stations when delivered. Looking at it this way, the all-electric SUV model may have been adjusted in design compared to the early test versions.
Meanwhile, Ideal Motors' President and Chief Engineer Ma Donghui said, "Ideal Motors will launch multiple 800V high-voltage pure electric models in 2025. In terms of R&D, the overall development progress is normal. Currently, we have completed multiple small-batch prototype production trials, and according to the calibration and test verification plan, we have completed related tests and performance checks for high-temperature and humidity, fatigue durability, etc. In terms of industrial chain capacity preparation, the overall progress is also advancing normally, and the pure electric model's capacity planning can meet sales demand. The factory building for producing complete vehicles has been completed, and the four major process production lines are currently being installed and debugged. Additionally, the self-researched and self-manufactured core components of Ideal's pure electric models are also undergoing performance testing. The capacity planning and development progress of external supplier partners have all proceeded smoothly according to plan. We are confident that we can ensure the delivery of pure electric models as planned."
Prior to this, we obtained spy shots of three ideal pure electric SUV models from relevant channels. It is said that the three models may be named M7, M8 and M9, positioning them to meet the needs of family users.
According to ideal product planning, by 2025, Ideal Automobile will have a lineup including 5 extended-range models, 1 super flagship (MEGA), and 5 pure electric models. It is expected that ideal M8 will be one of the 5 pure electric models, with a high probability of being its first pure electric SUV, positioned as a mid-to-large-sized six-seater SUV.
This year in April, Li Xiang said at the Beijing Auto Show that "the Ideal M8 is basically a travel version of the Model X. To better solve the space problem of the third row seats." Li Xiang said: "The new car is not an MPV shape, if you remove the part after the C pillar, the front half of the body is basically consistent with the Model Y and Model X. The Ideal M7 and M9 are expected to be positioned as medium and large-sized pure electric SUVs. From the spy shots of the rear of the car, the three models basically continue the current MEGA's styling language, with some differences in the tail outline and taillights. However, combined with Li Xiang's speech, it is expected that the new car will have some adjustments in design."
