Next Generation Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV to Debut in 2026
Mitsubishi has revealed more details about its next-generation Outlander PHEV, with the upcoming model expected to undergo significant updates both domestically and internationally.
The updated Outlander PHEV will offer a wide range of powertrain options, including gasoline, diesel, plug-in hybrid, and e-hybrid variants. This diversification is intended to cater to various market segments, from fuel-efficient models to more powerful, eco-friendly options.
According to insiders, the new model will make its official debut at next year's Tokyo Motor Show and will eventually hit Japanese roads in 2026.
Design Language and Features
Visual renderings suggest that the updated Outlander PHEV features a sleeker design, while maintaining the sporty elements of its predecessor. The front grille boasts slim, elongated headlights reminiscent of Mitsubishi's larger Groupe Renault platform but is maintained with a shield-like bumper design. Divided air intakes also add to the sporty look.
The rear section adopts the 'link-through tail lights' concept - long and thin taillights echoing the shape seen at the front, reinforcing the visual flow throughout the vehicle and further emphasizing its sportier features.
Updates
Exterior treatments such as a black finish for lower parts of the body (fenders, side skirts), along with matte roof finishing enhance ruggedness. Additional, new interior design elements emphasize clean lines.
Please note: details on engine specifications will be explored in more detail when they are officially announced by Mitsubishi.
