BYD's New Model, Xia, Scheduled to Launch on January 8th
Domestic dealerships have provided photographers with images of BYD Xia, the company's upcoming mid-size MPV, which is set to hit the market on January 8th.
Previous official announcements placed Xia in a class above 30,000 yuan, with rumors suggesting a price tag of between 28-32 thousand yuan.
Taking a closer look at the new model, its exterior retains BYD's distinctive dragon-inspired design language. The large dimension LED grille displays an impressive presence on the front, accompanied by two side air vents linking to turn signals and integrated LED lighting. Inside, a series of LED accents is seen complementing big intake openings, imbuing the interior with an extra-strong feel.
The vehicle measures 5145x1970x1805mm in length, width, and height respectively. With a total wheelbase length of 3045mm, along with fitted 18-inch wheels paired with Michelin e-Primacy tires, Xia promises to deliver comfortable ride quality and excellent noise insulation. Behind the car is an enlarged front spoiler panel coupled with full-face LED fog lamps, boasting good identification visibility.
Inside, a wraparound soft-touch material covers much of the interior space, accompanied by several luxury features such as an adjustable display console coupled with floating-screen displays along the passenger side. The steering column retains a classic multi-spoke design.
The 7-seater layout employs a 2+2+3 configuration in which seating becomes readily available for passengers. In the back, Nappa genuine super-soft soft leather cloud-like seats await riders along with manually controlled armrests, while also supporting advanced electric reclining features accessible via the front-mounted handhold control panel.
Behind those rear-back seats is a cleverly concealed space that can be opened to create extra storage room.
In terms of performance, Xia comes equipped with 5th generation Dual Motor Drive (DM) technology powered by a 1.5T gasoline engine coupled alongside an electric motor. The gasoline component boasts a maximum output of 115 kW, and the Electric motor shows off its capacity at up to 200kW. The battery offers pure-electric travel ranges ranging from 100km and 180km.
Besides, it features advanced technologies including Cloud Aggregation Anti-Roll Control system, DiPilot assisted-driving driving aids & DiLink smart seat for enhanced overall comfort during long drives
