GAC Motors Reveals Plans for Hydrogen Fuel Cell Cars in 2025
January 5, 2023 - GAC Motor has announced that it will release a series of vehicles equipped with the latest generation of "super-ethanol-electric混合" technology and a new SUV model later this year. Additionally, at the upcoming Harbin 2025 Winter Ninth Asia Game Exhibition, GAC Motor will participate in a hydrogen fuel cell car service team.
Three hundred and fifty hydrogen electric hybrid cars have been delivered to the event committee so far, marking a significant milestone for the brand's participation in an international sports meet.
GAC Motor's new-generation "super-ethanol-electric混合" technology allows for flexible blending of ethanol and gasoline in the same fuel tank. This is made possible by employing high-efficiency engines with heat efficiency at its highest, reaching 48.15%, while achieving groundbreaking startup performance from -40°C temperatures, expanding accessibility to a wider B and C segment consumer base.
Just last month, GAC Motor announced a record-breaking sales performance for the previous year, reaching 2.17 million units in total sales, with growth of over 32% compared to the same period. In December alone, vehicle sales reached 210,055 units, increasing by 43% over similar periods, marking consecutive quarterly milestones above 20,000 units.
New Energy Market shares within the company saw impressive growth as well: during the month, they reached 111,206 vehicles, growing by 93% year-over-year. The new energy penetration rate stands at nearly 53%. With the brand continuing to push its market share, it achieved a continuous fifth consecutive month above 50%.
New Energy sales accounted for over 888,235 vehicles in total in 2024, an increase of around 92% compared to the same period, securing full target realization with a margin. Convinced that GAC Motor has solid long-term confidence in its strategic transformation phase, leadership outlined ambitious 2025 targets.
