Bugatti Unveils Tourbillon, its Successor to the Chiron
The Bugatti Tourbillon has officially kicked off its global tour in Shanghai, marking its maiden appearance on the Chinese market. The new model is set to be limited to 250 units worldwide and will retail at a staggering €380 million (approximately RMB 289.9 million), with deliveries scheduled for 2026.
Design-wise, the Tourbillon adheres to Bugatti's signature classic design aesthetic, with the iconic quadruple scutts front grille paired with dual large side vents that are indicative of the brand's top-of-the-line sports car prowess. The vehicle also features an elegantly raised butterfly-wing-inspired pop-up door design, adding a touch of drama and sophistication.
Measurements reveal the Tourbillon to be 4,671 mm in length, 2,165 mm in width, and 1,189 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,740 mm. Its curb weight is a mere 1,995 kg, and the structural weight accounts for a staggering 45% of that – less than its spiritual predecessor, the Chiron.
Inside the cabin lies an analog mechanical dashboard with three interconnected gauges on the left, comprising of oil temperature, water temperature, battery voltage, and fuel level readings. On the central podium lies a tachometer positioned over a speedometer table, embedded is the engine power reading display.
The performance department boasts an innovative 90-degree V-shaped 8.3-liter naturally aspirating engine developed in collaboration with Cosworth, capable of hitting speeds at the 9000 RPM mark. An advanced quad-motors all-electric hybrid setup provides the boost; a combination of front-dual rear single is put together for propulsion. At its core lies an impressive total system output equalling 1800 horsepower and backed up by an 8-speed dual-clutch transmission coupled to a performance-oriented four-wheel drive system.
Acceleration times include the staggering 2-second dash from 0-100 km/h, just under 5 seconds to reach 200 km/h, under 10 seconds to 300 km/h, and less than 25 seconds to hit the half-a-thousand mile post. With an impressive maximum speed of 380 km/h but can be taken up to 445 km/h with the insertion of the "Turbo" key.
Additionally, Bugatti's latest creation boasts a capable all-electric setup: boasting a total system output of 800 horsepower and backing it up is its power-hungry high-voltage platform combined with 25 kW batteries. Pure electric driving experience can reach as far as 60 kilometers.
