Tesla Releases Global Production and Delivery Report for 2024
Data from Tesla's report reveals that the company produced approximately 1.773 million electric vehicles globally in 2024, delivering around 1.789 million. In addition, the total installed capacity of energy storage products reached 314 GW. Among these numbers, the fourth quarter saw a production of around 459,000 electric vehicles and deliveries exceeding 494,500, whereas energy storage products accounted for 11.0 GW of installed power.
In particular, within China's market, Tesla confirmed that its Model Y had cumulative sales of over 48,000 units in 2024, further solidifying its position as the country's top-selling passenger vehicle model. Furthermore, in December alone, the 12-month domestic sales figure reached a record-breaking 8,300 vehicles, with a year-on-year increase of 12.8%. The overall year-end total broke records by exceeding 67.7 million units sold. Combining Model 3 and Model Y deliveries, Tesla distributed around 170.4 million units in total during the full year, with about 167.9 million produced.
Beyond these metrics, it was announced that approximately 12,169 Supercharger outlets were introduced across the globe, which marked an increase of 19% from last year. The global number of installed Supercharger outlets now stands at over 67,000, with further plans to expand in 2025. Additionally, Tesla boasts a global base of car owners exceeding 7 million.
In light of this, Tesla introduced two promotional offers for Chinese customers: the Model 3/Model Y that were preordered before January 31 would receive up to five years of zero-interest financing; at present Model Y cars may be purchased with an additional RMB10000 discount on the tail-end price. With extra incentives from regional subsidies and replacement policies, Tesla car buyers could save a range of 4-6 thousand, rendering both models extremely attractive.
For international markets, in the third quarter of last year, Tesla model Y and Model 3 secured their second consecutive top spot by dominating the electric vehicle market; within Europe, over 15,200 units of Model Y sold while close to 8,000 orders for Model 3 arrived as well. In Norway, where Tesla has been number one on car sales four years in a row, it saw Model Y with the largest numbers (more than 16,000 ordered) also boasting more than a 20% market share; within Sweden, Tesla became the top selling model that took over local brand Volvos' positions during the first quarter of last year.
