GAC Sotmoto Star Y8 Unveiled: A New Era for the Brand
On March 3rd, in Haikou, Hainan Island, Chinese automotive company GAC (Guangxi Automobile Group) unveiled its new electric and hybrid vehicle model, the Sotmoto Star Y8. This car boasts a new design language and comes equipped with the company's latest smart driving system.
Exterior Design
The new Star Y8 features a full new design language, with dimensions of 5018mm in length, 1918mm in width, and 1480mm in height. The front-end features an LED light group accompanied by a central "star ring" lamp strip, enhancing visual recognition. Additionally, the side profile incorporates T-shaped aluminum trim pieces, giving the car a more refined look.
Interior Design
Upon entering the vehicle, users are greeted with a new hidden gear handle on the rear doors, which optimizes wind resistance and closely resembles the GAC E8 model.
Electric Powertrain
The Star Y8 comes equipped with GAC's popular EM-P Supersuper Hybrid System (powered by Extreme Motor Corporation) from its 1.5 T model. This feature generates a maximum power output of 120 kW and a total torque of 605 Nm, with a 0-100km/h acceleration time of around 6 seconds.
Battery Life
The Star Y8 is powered by an 18.4 kWh Lithium-Iron Phosphate battery pack, resulting in a pure electric driving range of approximately 130 kilometers.
Connectivity and Autonomy Features
In addition to the advanced smart driving system, GAC's latest model will come equipped with cutting-edge connectivity options such as free links cross-platform integration, sharing capabilities, and AI-powered functions for autonomous driving.
