Lyft i8: Ideal's Most Anticipated Electric SUV, Set to Debut in July
Ideal, a Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer, has officially confirmed that its long-awaited i8 model will debut on July 7. The company showcased the car's exterior design elements, providing further details about its features and dimensions.
The Lyft i8 is expected to be a mid-size SUV with an all-electric powertrain, boasting six seats. Its size will surpass that of Tesla Model X by a considerable margin.
From a design perspective, the Lyft i8 has taken cues from Ideal's MEGA model. The front end features a bold "high-speed" vehicle design concept, characterized by more pronounced angle lines on the front fascia and larger round headlights with increased arc shapes. In line with other Ideal SUVs, the side profile will retain two smaller additional lights alongside the large central headlight.
Additionally introduced by Ideal was an image of the i8 from the driver's-eye view perspective – showcasing a narrowed cockpit but wider front end appearance compared to its MEGA counterpart.
The car’s body features an upper/lower dual-tone color scheme with larger 21-inch wheels that feature low-key profile; door-handled doors are hidden from view. The rear side has adopted design cues similar to those found on Ideal's L series SUV. Its tail-lights display additional angles both left and right, while the central area of its lower side incorporates two angles.
In terms of finer details, Ideal aims to retain family-like styling elements in their front seats – yet differentiating itself from earlier models in line with IdealL through subtle changes that give an improvement to visibility upon glancing deeper.
This electric SUV is planned to come equipped with an all-wheel drive system and will utilize dual motors. The combined power output reaches 400,000 watts (or 410kW), paired as they get on long-distance driving trips, it’s worth to see 102.7 kW of battery capacity in front powering it through CLTC mode test, offering a range of pure electric operation ranging around 710 km.
The Ideal i8's specifications and features will be made known further down the track, so this teaser only provides first glance at its arrival soon.
