Alarmingly Hot: Air Conditioners Blow Past 49°C in 'Winter' Test Results

Electric Car Review: Geely's Extreme EV Test in Extreme Temperatures

Overview of Testing Results

The testing results for the 2024 Geely Extreme EV standard model, specifically designed to test its endurance, energy efficiency, and comfort features within extreme temperature zones. This report includes data from the vehicle equipped with a 71.4 kWh lithium-ion battery pack that was driven under single-engine electric mode.

Endurance Test in High-Temperature Zone

The Electric Vehicle's endurance performance under high temperatures was tested during the test period, which involved driving on highways at an average speed of 70+-2 km/h and then returning to the starting point after a segment of 50% of the highway condition. The following results were obtained:

  • Pure electric distance in the high-temperature zone (66°K - 30°CK): 295.9 km
  • Down by 191.1 kilometers compared to the low-temperature zone, resulting in an achievement rate drop from 73.6% to 44.7%

Energetic Performance Tests

Analysis of Low-Temperature Zone Test Results

The Electric Vehicle's performance was evaluated during its endurance tests under different thermal zones, including both the low temperature zone (Kyoto-Jing-Jin-Fu) and high temperatures (Inner Mongolia).

Here are the results from the low-temperature test:

  • Energy consumption: 15.59 kWh/100km (vs 10.11 kWh/100km in the high-temperature zone)
  • Achieved a higher energy efficiency during cold weather.

Analysis of Hot Zone Efficiency Test Results

During the hot-zone testing, we evaluated different charging efficiencies based on electric vehicle's battery performance during various temperatures:

  • The test was operated using "cold car warm" mode to simulate the situation where an EV is charged in freezing conditions; the overall recharging time for full capacity was 91 minutes.
  • It took another 7 minutes longer than low-temperature charging (from 30% - to 80%), with no loss or variation to the high temperature zone.

Analysis of Comfort Performance Test Results

The Geely's comfort level and heating effect were also examined during high-low zones testing using advanced analysis tools:

  • Temperature stability in cabins reached an almost steady range from mid-range at low temperatures, reaching as far as 20 degrees Celsius, without any apparent instability or freeze.

Summary

In the final results, Geely achieved awards for charging efficiency, reliability and comfort. This report provides a detailed overview of testing performance at extreme temperatures.
