Cool Climate Group's E8 Silver River Scores Second-Best Performance in Winter Test

Winter Car Tests: GAC Aion E8 Performs Well in Harsh Conditions

As winter approaches, motorists may face various challenges using their cars, such as reduced range, increased energy consumption, and difficulty charging. To investigate these issues, we conducted a comprehensive test of the GAC Aion E8, a electric vehicle that has gained popularity for its performance and comfort.

Cold Zone Test

The cold zone test was carried out in -25°C to -20°C temperatures, simulating a winter driving scenario with high mileage (50% of high-speed and 50% of low-speed). The results:

The GAC Aion E8 maintained an impressive range of 301.3km, surpassing the CLTC test value of 265km. However, its endurance rate reached only 45.3%.
It achieved 82 minutes for charging to 0-100%, 24 minutes for 30-80% charging and 106.6kW peak power in the 35-60% range. The vehicle consumed an average of 28.14 kWh/100km.

During outdoor testing, air conditioning temperatures were maintained consistently, with neither the car nor its occupants experiencing temperature instability or overheating.

Heat Test (Standard)

We conducted a heat test to evaluate the vehicle's cooling system's reliability under high temperatures:

After sitting for two hours in 29.9°C weather, the GAC Aion E8 underwent standard tests and showed excellent heat test results. No malfunction occurred on either side of the air conditioning.

Low Temperature Test

For low-temperature testing, temperatures ranged from +5°C to -2°C and conducted various mileage scenarios:

The total range reached 584km with an outstanding endurance rate of 87.8%. It took approximately 30 minutes to recharge the battery to 0-80% stage.
During the charging process, it was able to maintain a steady power output at 100kW from 5% to 70%. The vehicle ended up consuming negligible energy over the entire range (14.12 kWh/100km).

Throughout this low temperature testing round, air conditioning maintained a stable temperature throughout the test course with a car room temperature exceeding 22 degrees Celsius.

Overall Analysis of Cooling Performance and Energy Efficiency The results from our tests demonstrated that the GAC Aion E8 is performing effectively in winter climates. Moreover, its energy efficiency remains superior compared to others within the group tested.
