According to reports, a total of 12,535 MINI COOPER SE vehicles produced between 2020 and 2024 have been recalled in the United States. According to the recall report from relevant US departments, high-pressure batteries may not have been manufactured according to the specifications of the car manufacturer. The document does not specify the direct cause but states: "High-voltage batteries or high-voltage systems may fail, which could be caused by a variety of factors."
In severe cases, a short circuit may occur, causing the battery to overheat and potentially catch fire. This can even happen when the vehicle is stationary, with warning messages appearing inside the car. MINI will provide free software updates for affected vehicles, which include a diagnostic function that can detect battery faults, discharge them to below 30% and start notifying owners from October 7th onwards.
