New Audi RS 7 Packs More Power: No New V8, Only Hybrid Options with a Humongous 725hp Starting Point

Audi's Latest RS 7 Model Spotted with New Hybrid Powertrain Option

Audi has been spotted testing its new RS 7 Avant model, which could be the first production car to ditch its traditional V8 engine in favor of a more environmentally friendly hybrid powertrain.

If the upcoming RS 7 Sportback Performance is any indication, the new version will retain a similar setup. However, Audi's latest prototype has been shown with a more advanced hybrid system that boosts output to 725 horsepower at starting. This represents a significant increase from the current model's V8+48V mild-hybrid powertrain, which produces 630 horses.

Not only is there a noticeable power boost, but the new RS 7 Avant will also provide an additional 50 ponies through its "Boost mode" feature when activated temporarily. Furthermore, it has been reported that an even more powerful version with 800 horses is set to join the lineup in the near future.

Audi has thus far declined to comment on these reports. While less details have come out, Audi recently made a commitment to revamp their product line-up emphasizing more plug-in hybrid and electric vehicles throughout their upcoming releases. Audi's new A6, slated as the A7, will retain its designation of A6L for the domestic market while adopting the name RS 6 Avant upon release - though details of these announcements seem slow.

Additionally it can be anticipated that the RS versions for the newly released models are scheduled to meet markets by late into 2025 when we're seeing all of this unfolding.
