China’s Geely Expands High-End Vehicle Suite with New 1.4.0 Version Over-The-Air Upgrade for e π Series
The Chinese automaker East Wind has begun rolling out a new 1.4.0 version update over-the-air (OTA) for its eπ007 and eπ008 models, marking the launch of six-seat versions in various Chinese cities.
Key Features Added to e π Series Include Enhanced Autonomous Driving Capabilities and Daily Function Improvements
The OTA upgrade focuses on two primary areas: advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) optimization and enhanced daily functions. The updates aim to provide a more streamlined driving experience, improving safety while enhancing convenience for drivers.
Autonomous Driving Enhancements:
Highway Naviation Assist's (NOA) algorithmic capabilities have been significantly improved, enabling faster and more accurate detection of obstacles. This includes enhanced recognition of narrow shapes and better decision-making during variable weather conditions. The upgrade has also optimized the system to detect slower speeds after a lane change, reducing vehicles to 5-7 seconds instead of 10.
Improved Cornering Detection:
The new update enables better handling with curves by optimizing the detection algorithm for bends at curving roads, increasing accuracy. Additionally, the system can automatically determine whether to exit the road or slow down when necessary.
Optimized Functionality:
One major addition is improved door locking logic, where the car will unlock if removed from the parking spot after entering after closing all doors properly, ensuring a secure and convenient lock-up experience. Enhanced headlights can now be easily toggled on/ off without having to frequently touch controls.
Visual Enhancements Include Improvements to Rear View Mirror Camera Display
Other notable updates include enhancements in rearview mirror camera visibility, with improved brightness, edge clarity, reduced ghosting due more reliable depth mapping algorithms, resulting in improved vehicle body detection
