Reporter:
We have noticed that since June, the Chinese side has been communicating and negotiating with the European side on the anti-subsidy case of electric vehicles in Europe. Can we know what's the latest progress?
The Ministry of Commerce spokesperson replied:
Since the EU launched an anti-subsidy investigation into Chinese electric vehicles, the Chinese government and industry have been committed to resolving the issue through dialogue and consultation. On August 20, the European Commission released a preliminary ruling before the final ruling. Despite our inability to accept or recognize the preliminary ruling, we still hold the greatest sincerity, hoping to resolve the friction through dialogue and consultation, seeking a scheme that both sides can accept.
On September 9, the Vice-Minister of Commerce held talks with the Director-General of the European Commission's Trade Directorate in Brussels, Belgium, and once again expressed his willingness to engage in dialogue and negotiations to resolve trade frictions between China and Europe in a satisfactory manner, taking into account each other's concerns.
The case of the electric vehicle anti-subsidy is complex and has a wide impact, both sides have conducted consultations and reached an agreement, which presents certain challenges. However, the Chinese side believes that as long as the European side shows sincerity and moves towards each other, it can be resolved through consultation concerns on both sides. The Chinese side is willing to continue close cooperation with the European side, striving to reach a solution that meets the common interests of both parties and conforms to WTO rules, promoting the healthy and stable development of China-EU economic and trade relations.
