New Electric SUV Shown in China, Scheduled for Launch Later This Year
Beijing, February 19 - The Dongfeng-Nanxiang (DNX) company has confirmed plans to launch a new all-electric small SUV, dubbed the Nanxiang 06. According to the latest reports from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the vehicle will ride on the Quantum Architecture 3 (QAA-3) platform, with an estimated production start ahead of schedule for second half of this year.
The interior code name S32 is believed to be used once again by DNX, as in the case of its predecessor, Nanxiang 01. The electric powertrain of the new vehicle will be equipped with a lithium-iron phosphate battery pack, while the drive unit should produce a maximum of 135 kW of gross power.
Design-wise, the Nanxiang 06 features an all-new styling approach that sets it apart from its predecessor, the Nanxiang 01. The rear and front lights exhibit a sophisticated design pattern reminiscent of the seven character LED display commonly used by many automotive firms. On top of this elegant feature set lies more distinctive work by incorporating an advanced glass roof element and sleeker LED fog-lights which provide better road illumination to drivers, enhancing the visual appeal at night.
The body panels of Nanxiang 06 will be constructed using a new aluminum-based vehicle platform that promises to significantly improve safety while cutting down the mass of the lightweight car in return. By adopting advanced technology elements such as composite panels and reinforced construction to further enhance passenger safety, the vehicle may prove to save around ten tons off mass compared to its non-electric cousins.
