MI Smart Parking Crash Leaves Drivers Baffled: What Took Xiaomi So Long to Admit?

Smallmi Automobile Recalls Smart Parking Aid Function Over Safety Concerns

Smallmi has recalled its SU7 standard version due to concerns over the smart parking aid feature's safety implications. An official statement released by the company had addressed 5 related questions about the recall, which are as follows:

1. Do I need to drive my vehicle to a service point for this OTA update?

This OTA recall is only performed remotely through free smartphone software updates (OTA), and no physical store check or handling of the vehicle is required. You will receive notifications via SMS or the manufacturer's mobile app about your vehicle being scheduled for an OTA upgrade, with the options provided further details on the process and necessary steps.

2. Why were the vehicles not updated through remote OTA in the first place? Could it have been enough to improve safety?

Smallmi plans to update its smart parking feature using smartphone OTAs across all SU7 standard version models within recall range, free of charge. This initiative aims to further enhance the reliability of this feature.

Although remote software updates would offer greater convenience, Smallmi continues to prioritize user safety above all and conducted additional work to improve the stability of key components after an accident, including cloud services issues which occurred on 11/14, confirming and eliminating security risks before any implementation steps were undertaken.
