Porsche Unveils Plans for New 911 Dakar Model
Porsche is set to introduce a new variant of its highly successful Dakar model, promising an updated T-Hybrid powertrain previously seen on the GTS sibling.
The new Dakar model is expected to make its formal debut in late 2025, although official announcements have yet to be made. To date, only 2500 units of the current Dakar model are planned for production, with the last one hitting the road in November 2024. In a previous statement, Porsche CEO acknowledged that if Dakar's popularity warrants it, further off-road-focused variants of the 911 may follow.
Currently equipped with a 3.6-liter turbocharged flat-six engine paired with an eight-speed dual-clutter automatic transmission, resulting in a maximum power output of 532 horsepower and peak torque of 609Nm. The updated 911 Dakar's power increase will reportedly translate to improved speed from zero to sixty miles per hour, expectedly quicker than the current model, which achieves this milestone in around 3.4 seconds.
Compared to its predecessor, it is mentioned the performance upgrade provides much enhanced performance over all of the same engine configurations that are found within the GTS variants with a 0-60 start time.
