Design Philosophy

The exterior design of the CLA Shooting Brake remains faithful to its headlight and rear three-axle theme. The car's front end and trunnion doors are equipped with shutter screens, while a large Mercedes logo crowns the center console. The overall shape takes on a trapezoidal form, subtly hinted by the LED daytime driving lights in the shape of an inverted equilateral triangle. Beneath the front grille is a rectangular air intake that pairs well with the streamlined contours surrounding it. On either side, flared intake slots add to the sporty aesthetic.

Turning around the CLA Shooting Brake reveals a refined and elegant body line. The car's overall silhouette remains relatively compact, though its lower position, accompanied by discreet door handles, serves only to minimize air resistance even further. Disguising itself behind an expansive camouflage layer, there is no mistaking that the all-new model boasts not two but three differently-shaped tail lights - one featuring a semi-circle and the other bearing an equilateral triangle.

In terms of performance, it appears the all-new model draws heavily from its predecessors. As previously reported by insiders, the electric variants will be powered by rear axle motors churning out 272 horsepower, accompanied by battery packs measuring 89.6 kWh in capacity to deliver a guaranteed range of up to 750 kilometers under WLTC conditions (the Euro 6 emissions test cycle). Similarly hybrid variants will also harness such prowess through means similar to its predecessors; specifically they are expected to deploy systems generating combined powers of up to 190 horsepower, equipped with 8-speed dual-clutch automatic gearboxes.
