Abita 07: A Comprehensive Review of China's Latest Electric Vehicle
The Abita 07, the latest electric vehicle from the joint venture between Guangling Automobile, Huawei, and Ningde Time, has been put to the test in some of the harshest winter conditions in China. To determine whether this newcomer can live up to its promises of comfort, reliability, and range, we embarked on a dual-site adventure testing across the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region and the Inner Mongolia province.
Range and Charging
For the range tests, we set our test route across two contrasting climates: a cold-dry area in Northeast China (Inner Mongolia) and an arid area for moderate temperatures, representing most parts of northern China. In this winter testing scenario, we primarily looked at whether the Abita 07 can address concerns typical to all new electric vehicles – continuous travel and charging range – in these environmental conditions.
Hilly Cold-Weather Area Test: We tested the Abita 07 in the freezing region using an approximately 350 km highway section, divided into 50% high-speed driving and 50% low-speed road segments. Through such harsh weather conditions, the car demonstrated strong cold range test results: reaching 137km with its battery powered for full day at lows around -15 °C to -20 °C. Furthermore, in our testing, we noticed an impressive efficiency increase in this region: achieving a total of 72.9% pure-electric travel mileage, showcasing top-end performance.
Low-Heat Region Test (B-C Temperature Area): However, for the low-heat area, it seemed like every single car was at least one second behind other vehicles when they tried to accelerate up steep slopes or speed out from stoplights; which is actually not that hard on most gasoline-powered cars but can make real difference with electric - especially over extended periods.
Charging and Fuel Efficiency
The Abita 07 performed well under full EV tests in both temperatures but also presented some interesting trends: when plugged back to power after extensive travel through pure-electric highway drives, its power consumption was measured at a rate of approximately 6.87 liters per hundred kilometers - indicating an efficient vehicle for long electric-only drives.
The results are impressive; although there's still much room for improvement in these aspects, especially concerning charging time - which can be significantly shortened compared with gasoline vehicles under the same conditions.
Interior Temperature Control and Comfort:
Both tests indicated the interior system of the Abita 07 maintained an internal operating temperature consistently above 21°C with minimal fluctuation during test drives across varying environmental temperatures. It demonstrated solid climate control and comfort features, contributing to an overall pleasant, smooth driving experience in cold weather conditions.
- In low-heat region tests, the car's interior remained pleasantly cool throughout without any unusual issues or drops in temperature readings.
- Similarly impressive performance in highway driving was observed.
- Cooling systems maintained optimal temperatures even following extended periods of driving.
Charging System and Power:
In both testing areas for the Abita 07, it was consistently demonstrated how efficiently it can handle various loads during fast charging. Be it from 0-100 percent or when moving between charge levels, power consumption levels remained low without any notable increases, showcasing strong charging efficiency.
