Audi's Next-Gen R8 Revealed: Temerario Powertrain and Electric Revival on the Horizon

New Audi R8 Model Expected to Debut in 2027

Audi is reportedly set to launch its new-generation R8 model by the end of 2027, based on the Lamborghini Temerario. The new vehicle will share its architecture with the upcoming Lamborghini supercar, leveraging a modular platform that combines engine, transmission, and chassis components.

The Audi R8 E-tron name has been hinted at as a potential title for the full-electric version of the next-generation model. In contrast, the Lamborghini Temerario is expected to be available exclusively as a plug-in hybrid.

Rumors point to an upcoming Audi that replicates the Lamborghini's design approach and mechanical configurations. With this in mind, Audi could potentially introduce the new generation R8 with the same drivetrain system, key structural components, electronics, and chassis configurations found in the Lamborghini Temerario.

Lamborghini Temerario Technical Details

The engine of the upcoming Lamborghini-powered supercar may utilize a dual-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 engine paired with three electric motors. Initially reported data on this power configuration includes an output power level of up to 800 horsepower and a peak rev capacity at 9,750 rpm, accompanied by a top speed limit of around 100 km/h.

The electric motors themselves will reach maximum power levels of 150 horsepower, while generating peak torque of 300 Nm, collectively contributing to an overall system max output power level of 920 horsepower. It is further predicted that the Lamborghini Temerario will be paired with an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission in a configuration that facilitates top speeds of over 340 km/h and achieve an accelerated 0-100 kph in just under 2.7 seconds.

From a technical perspective, details reveal that the automotive powertrain system of this supercar features advanced electric drive technology along with its high-performance powerplant for efficient handling on both the road and off it.

The Origins and Sales Prospects of Audi and Lamborghini R8

Looking back to history reveals how Audi's first edition of R8 emerged as a project directly based upon 2006’s Lamborghim Gallardo. Consequently, the brand broke its mold in terms of introducing bespoke vehicles across various market channels throughout 2015 with Huracan and continued its dominance with high-performance models.

This past decade, production units marked an impressive milestone on Audi's roads, while offering a comprehensive range that captured global consumer imagination worldwide; this particular record represents some pivotal development milestones for super cars designed to represent an exclusive world class of automotive engineering.

Lamborghini has previously sold around 44,418 examples of its flagship R8 model by the end of 2023.
