Bitter Cold Takes a Biter Hit: Winter's Record-Breaking Energy Consumption Compared

Zhanwang Yuer Journal 2025 Zhumingjia PHEV Four-Wheel Drive Flagship Bengang Version Detailed Review

Recently, the live broadcast of our winter test for "2024 Automobile Winter Test" has been viewed by everyone. This winter test focuses on two high-frequency winter scenes, including low-temperature and cold zones, to address users' concerns about new energy vehicles' winter range, energy consumption, and charging. Through a comprehensive evaluation from comfortability and reliability, we brought you the details of the Zhumingjia 2025 PHEV Four-Wheel Drive Flagship Bengang Version's performance.

High-Latitude Test

The high-latitude test took place in the Chabahur Lake region, covering the temperature range of -20°C to -15°C. Challenges included a round trip with double driving modes and testing under 50% high-speed road conditions and low-speed traffic. The results were as follows:

The pure electric range was tested from Chabahur to Liuyanghe River. During two rounds of uphill downhill tests, the vehicle traveled 65% highway and 35% urban speed limits. At an average speed of 70±2 km/h, during high-speed test conditions, and at a speed of 40±2 km/h during low-speed conditions, the pure electric range reached 102.5 kilometers.

After completing the pure electric range testing, refueling with 95 # fuel resulted in 8.13 liters of fuel consumption, whereas the vehicle's battery was filled to 26% after being fully recharged. The fuel-efficient recharging rate was calculated according to the distance traveled when charging was achieved from 17 % down to 26%, totaling a traveling distance of 8.5 kilometers and a total consumption of fuel of 6.86 liters per 100 km.

The fast-charging test checked the effects of winter on driving efficiency, using an experimental device in the cold weather environment. We tested how long the vehicle would take to charge from zero using fast-speed charging and what type of battery capacity was used: in this case a 41.7kWh三元锂电池. After completion of the refueling process, with temperatures ranging between -15.9℃ and +13℃, we found that the vehicle's overall range after recharging to 100 % capacity and a total fuel consumption of 7.63 L reached 37kWh.

According to our calculations based on the vehicle's actual usage in cold conditions, the fuel efficiency for electric propulsion can be estimated as follows:

  • Charging Efficiency: 74 minutes: Fuel consumption increased by +5% after charging Battery capacity was used to charge from an initial charge balance of zero. As a result of cold weather, fast charge capacity reached 57 kW at time t=15 (when energy is stored for the maximum), with temperature and power rate varying accordingly based on time.

Total fuel consumption in low-temperature zones: 36.14 kWh/100 km

Low-Temperature Test

We carried out a winter test in Binhai New Area, China, to examine the battery's performance under extreme cold conditions, and our tests were performed at an average speed of 70±2 kilometers per hour.

The vehicle traveled a distance from Beiqing West Road in Binhai New District to Tianjin South Harbor for its pure electric range. At that point, we had tested using both uphill downhill testing modes with the result that our battery performance reached 23.91 kWh/100km.

Analysis Conclusion

In conclusion, the 2025 Bengang test has awarded it a triple badge including:

  • Fast charging: (Fast Charging, 2024)
  • Comfortability: (Comfortable, 2024)
  • reliability: [Reliability, 2024]
