GAC Golden Dragon Yuegao Star 8 to Launch in May with Plug-in Hybrid Capability
The latest information suggests that the GAC Golden Dragon Yuegao Star 8, a mid-to-full-size vehicle, will be available for purchase in May. The plug-in hybrid variant of this model is expected to hit the market soon.
Exterior-wise, the overall length of the car has been extended, adopting a sloping rear roofline reminiscent of a luxury coupe. The front fascia features split-design headlights, while the rear features a through-the-glass taillight design. In terms of dimensions, the Star 8 measures 5,018mm in length, 1,918mm in width, and 1,480mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,928mm.
Inside, the car boasts a futuristic interior featuring a floating dashboard, a suspended square infotainment screen, and an above-glass display. The GAC Yuegao Star 8 comes equipped with the Silver Hour Flyme Auto vehicle system as standard, offering the 23+ Flyme Sound No Bound Sound System. Rear seats are available in executive-level configuration, featuring ventilation, heating, and massage functions.
In terms of advanced driving features, the high-end trim levels will be equipped with laser radar technology. This cutting-edge feature, combined with the Yuegao Star 8's super-speed EM-P hybrid powertrain, enables the vehicle to achieve superior navigation performance, allowing it to traverse at higher speeds and navigate complex road networks.
Under the hood, this electric-hybrid model is powered by a 1.5L engine combination of GAC motor EM-P, with an output of 120kW for the engine and 160kW for the hybrid system, resulting in a total combined torque output of 605N·m. The car can achieve a 0-100km/h acceleration time of around 6 seconds while delivering a fuel efficiency of approximately 3.67L/100KM on electric-only powertrain alone.
