Mazda Announces Entry into Thai Market with Mazda6 Electric
In a move to expand its presence in the global electric vehicle market, Mazda Corporation announced its plans to launch the Mazda6 Electric (MAZDA6e) in Thailand, marking the second country in the world after Belgium where the car will be sold.
This follows the unveilings of the Mazda6 Electric at the Brussels Motorcar Show on January 10 and the initial sales start-ups in European markets. Thailand is expected to become the second market for MAZDA6e globally after a successful launch.
The country boasts as one of Asia’s largest automotive manufacturing hubs with its growing demand for electric vehicles, driving up consumer enthusiasm toward EVs rapidly amidst the global shift towards sustainability.
Mazda entered the Thai market back in 1955 and has since developed a trusted brand image coupled with an extensive user base spanning over seven decades. With the introduction of MAZDA6e, the automotive company heralds its electric vehicle strategy with a significant step forward into Southeast Asia’s largest car market, showcasing strategic move beyond Asian terrains.
Manufactured at Mazda's factory in Nanjing, China while also serving as key operational nerve for supply chain and sourcing resources of global top brand partners. MAZDA6e is set to kick-start export from Thailand for both European markets and the nation itself with enhanced capabilities of integrating research- production -export ecosystems within this ecosystem of long-term commitments. Following successful introduction of MAZDA6 in Thai EV market - coupled with its expansion as an electric vehicle leading brand globally - all future R&D, smart technology innovations by MAZDA across Chinese-market will now be applied and further integrated into global outputs ensuring efficient technology flow through “合资智造” or joint innovation, establishing global partnerships effectively.
