Appearance-wise, the new car is available in two kinds of frosted paint - gray and gold. Smart Spirit #5 adopts the design concept "Sensitive ยท Sharp", combining avant-garde aesthetic design with practical functions, giving the whole car a strong cross-border style. The body lines of Spirit #5 will be more elongated. The front face of the new car uses a double horizontal strip light source lamp group, connected in the middle by a through-LED lamp band, presenting a good sense of technology. There is a silver surround at the bumper, with a design added to the two sides of the air guide groove, full of sports feeling. What's interesting is that the front surrounding of the vehicle will also be equipped with a projector, which can project a 233-inch screen.
Body side, the new car overall adopts a relatively square shape, and more rounded corners are added, making the whole car full of vitality. The new car provides 18/19/20/21-inch five-spoke wheels for selection. The vehicle uses a design similar to semi-closed wheel covers. In addition, the central wheel cover is designed as a floating type, and the logo is always in a horizontal position. At the same time, the rear of the body still has a glowing logo. The roof luggage rack adopts a smoked black design.
The rear end is still a popular trapezoidal tail lamp, the overall design style and front face are basically consistent, forming a sense of before and after. In terms of body size, the new car's length, width and height are 4705/1920/1705mm respectively, and the wheelbase is 2900mm. The rear trunk lid opening button cleverly integrates with the letter "a".
In addition, smart #5 will also provide a range of outdoor adventure packages and vehicle accessories. The outdoor adventure package comes with an X-type painted roof top bar and a modular design that offers flexibility and future upgrade possibilities. Notably, the side of the roof platform has four convenient standard installation ports for sports cameras (GoPro) or other extension accessories. The half-matte metal side step has been adopted, and a capsule round non-slip pad has been added to it. In terms of styling, whether it's a small backpack or a free side ladder, they are all designed with square corners and rounded edges, echoing the design language of the smart family. At the same time, the bottom plate safety armor will also provide more comprehensive protection for the vehicle.
Interior-wise, the most eye-catching part of the dashboard is the long screen that runs across the center console and rear seat. The screen has a sizeable length to it, with what appears to be physical touch-sensitive buttons on its left side. The steering wheel remains familiar in style. The entire dashboard design is minimalist, with no unnecessary button layout. Below the screen, there's expected to be a wireless charging pad, cup holder and central armrest arrangement, with a large storage compartment at the bottom, overall layout being quite traditional.
In terms of configuration, the vehicle is equipped with a 13-inch OLED 2.5K dual-screen display and uses an AMD V2000 car computer chip, and the car's UI design style has also changed. In addition, the main driver's position will adopt a 10.3-inch liquid crystal instrument screen and a 25.6-inch AR-HUD. Vehicle History
The first product of the smart brand was the smart fortwo, a two-seater city car that has been in production since 1998 and has undergone several updates. Due to its small size and flexibility, it met the needs of urban driving. Later, smart began to transform into an electric vehicle, launching an electric version of the fortwo, as well as a model developed jointly with Renault - forfour.
As market demand changes, smart begins to launch SUV models and shift its focus entirely to the development and production of pure electric vehicles, while still maintaining brand characteristics and providing more space and functionality. The release of models such as smart fortwo #1 and smart fortwo #3 marks progress in electrification and digitalization for smart. In addition to launching various models globally, smart actively expands its presence in overseas markets. In 2024, smart announced the establishment of a wholly-owned subsidiary in Australia, marking the official return of the smart brand to the Australian market.
Competing Vehicle Models
Smart #5 is positioned as a mid-size SUV, but considering its model characteristics and brand features, there isn't a direct competitor. Potential buyers of the Geely GV60 may have some similarities with Smart #5 users, both models having some playfulness to them, destined for niche customers. However, Smart #5 undoubtedly presents the brand tone and model characteristics better, being a more characterful model. Perhaps if MINI were to launch a mid-size SUV, that would be Smart #5's true competitor.
Besides, we also listed two recently popular mid-size SUVs - the extreme 7X and the L60 joy, and both models have not been officially launched. Although they differ in positioning from smart elf #5, for users who intend to buy a pure electric mid-size SUV, these two models are definitely ones that can't be avoided. Speaking of which, we must mention the "king" of mid-size SUVs - Tesla Model Y. If you want to buy a model that won't go wrong, consider Model Y. If you want to bid farewell to homogenization and seek more personalized car choices, smart is definitely one to consider.
