Volvo Reveal Modern Ioniq 9 SUV With E-GMP Platform
November 21 Official Launch Date for New Model
Volvo has confirmed that the modern Ioniq 9, a fully electric seven-seater SUV, is set to launch on 11th November. Based on the E-GMP platform shared with Hyundai's EV9, Volvo aims to create a vehicle distinct from its competitors with enhanced performance and range.
The new model will make its global debut at the Los Angeles Auto Show in December, before hitting overseas markets sometime in early 2025.
Design and Features
Comparative images have been released, showcasing the modern Ioniq 9's streamlined appearance. The vehicle features a lower center of gravity due to its sloping roofline and rear diffuser design, reducing drag coefficient performance by approximately 50%.
The new vehicle also boasts technological details such as Matrix LED headlights, an integrated touch screen system, a panoramic sunroof with tinted windows, multi-functional seats and a driver assist package offering semi-autonomous driving features. These combine to create an attractive and futuristic look for the modern Ioniq.
Powertrain and Performance
Details about powertrain configurations were released simultaneously as the initial pre-launch images of the vehicle. The new model is expected to be available in 2-wheel drive (2WD) and all-wheel drive (AWD) variants, with maximum torque anticipated to reach up to 400 horsepower per AWD variant, yielding an estimated range of around 489 miles under ideal conditions.
