Baidu and GE Automotive to Implement Support Plan for Extion Employees

A leaked document obtained by this reporter outlines a support plan for employees of Geely Electric Auto (GE Automotive), which is believed to be affected by the bankruptcy of its subsidiary, Baidu.

The plan involves four key areas: economic compensation, salary and social security benefits, special arrangements for pregnant women and other disabilities, and procedures for implementation.

According to the document, employees will receive an economic compensation package based on their employment period until December 20, 2024. The package includes a base salary equivalent to one months' worth of basic salary and allowances, with additional compensation determined by the remaining months worked since January 1, 2024.

Salaries for employees are set to be processed to December 20, 2024, while social security and pension contributions will also be made until the same date. The plan states that specialized accommodations such as work arrangements are reserved for pregnant women, hospital patients, and others with disabilities.

The plan was approved by government-appointed directors during a meeting witness-led by relevant government agencies. A shared account is expected to be established to oversee the payment process of staff compensation and benefits prior to January 20, 2025.

This comes after Baidu's joint statement stating they take all necessary steps to cooperate with GE Automotive management in assisting employees' social security and related issues. As reported by media outlets, Baidu had initiated a transfer flow for employees on December 12 for the November salary payment.
