Geely's New L6 Model to Debut at Shanghai Auto Show
Shanghai, China - In a recent development, Geely announced that its new rendition of the L6 sedan will make its global debut at the upcoming Shanghai auto show. This latest iteration of the popular model sees minimal changes in terms of design and focuses on updates to the vehicle's smart hardware and software features.
Compared to its 2024 counterparts, those purchasing the new L6 will face reduced ownership benefits.
Key Features and Enhancements
The Geely L6 sedan has been revamped with a focus on upgrading the onboard smart systems. Newcomers to the range will find the latest version equipped with more compact yet highly performing laser radar technology. For the aesthetic upgrade, new additions include golden-colored exterior emblems and unique wheel designs.
Advanced Driving (AD) Package Enhancements
When it comes to its artificial intelligence driving system, Geely has made key strides in hardware, swapping out older units for cutting-edge components. Specifically:
- AD Max: Upgrades from the existing engine are seen with a more powerful Thor-U-based (single-chip) core, replacing the previous dual-core setup powered by Intel's Duo chip.
-
The system offers multi-functional capabilities that enable advanced detection and support applications like visual language models (VLM), VLA, and full-scene NOA.
- AD Pro: While not a new hardware upgrade for this iteration but an increased feature set with added features, its core processing still relies on Geely's engine J5.
- Vision System Advancements: Enhancements to improve perception capabilities in support of both AD Max and AD Pro.
Powertrain and Performance
Despite the advancements, powertrain specifications remain largely unchanged. The same 1.5T engine, denominated L2E15M, is maintained as before, providing a combined output forceful enough at 300kW total with a fuel-saving enhancement - which further boosts its electric battery life to an impressive range of over 212 kilometers.
The new model will become available for purchase in China on May 1st.
