Tesla Unveils New Model Y with Fresh Redesign and Enhanced Features
Tesla has announced an updated delivery timeline for the new Model Y, which is now expected to begin deliveries in the second half of February. The latest iteration of one of Tesla's most popular models boasts new design elements, improved features, and enhanced performance.
The base Model Y with standard features will have a starting price of 26.35 million yuan, while the high-end Model Y with Advanced Autopilot package is 30.35 million yuan and available until February 28th.
Notable additions to the updated model include a tailgate badge, welcome lighting projection, welcome plate on the walking board, mobile charging dock text label, premium woven upholstery floor mats, and a dark-stained leather trim design element that further enhances the vehicle's visibility.
The new Model Y will feature both a central light strip and multi-part LED headlights integrated with C-shaped surrounds. Central features of the rear section are enclosed with an air vent door; this is paired to Tesla's patented reflective technology, creating visible identification for enhanced visibility without irritating driving sensations.
Another notable addition is the smart sensor tailgate door function on the back trunk opening part, ensuring access to the trunk while parked by merely walking behind to stop still, and automatically opening the trunk.
Model dimensions have been updated slightly: length 4797mm, width 1920mm, height 1624mm, and wheel base 2890mm. There’s an additional of 47mm on overall car length from previous versions, while maintaining unchanged axle distances. Colors for this new car model now offer five options, including Starry Gray (included), Pearl White (8000 Yuan), Glacier Blue (added to the list at 8000 yuan), Scarlet Red (12000 yuan) and Silver Paint Finish(12000 yuan).
Inside the updated Model Y design remains extremely minimalist. Interior features include a large 15.4-inch screen, featuring advanced AMD Ryzen CPU chips as well as an in-house developed vehicle unit system for improved processing speed.
Mechanically, this new model comes with power-driven rear-only and full-wheel driving versions. The single-motor is paired with a capacity of 220kW while the dual motor has combined outputs of 337kW and 474kW, each matching their expected accelerations at from acceleration zero to one hundred kilometers in five and four seconds, respectively.
In terms of performance, 15 kWh power consumption reduces by almost half as now ranges up to 719 kilometers. The latest iteration is also backed up with enhanced shock absorption thanks to new suspension optimization which helps reduce vibration on bumpy terrains.
