Mitsubishi Unveils Plans for Two New Compact SUVs in Europe by 2025
Mitsubishi has announced its plans to launch two new compact SUVs in Europe by 2025, including one hybrid and one fully electric variant. The hybrid model is expected to focus on light-hybrid and plug-in hybrid technology, with targets set against the likes of the BYD ATTO 3 (known as the Tianyi Plus domestically) and MG ES5.
Although an official launch event has yet to be held, Mitsubishi shed some details via a promotional image which features a blanked-out car. From a visual standpoint, it's clear that both car models have distinct roles – one focused in the domestic market with more conservative design attributes, while the other sports a higher driving position.
The most significant distinction appears to come from their use of headlights and tail lamps that diverge markedly from Mitsubishi’s established vehicle models. This is all the more striking given how unlike any previous examples they appear.
In August this year, Honda, Nissan, and Mitsubishi shared a collaborative agreement regarding joint strategies on electric vehicles as well as smart technologies, intending for each partner to tackle development costs in partnership – ultimately aiming to counter market challenges posed by competitors from China.
