1000 horsepower 2.5 seconds under 100 km/h Lotus Theory 1 time era concept supercar officially released

In the era of electrification, it's not very difficult to make a car that accelerates quickly. So Lotus says it doesn't want to participate in "digital racing," but rather hopes to create a more pure product. Theory 1 inherited the bloodline of the track, which means it and highly praised Elise, Exige and Evora sports cars are all about driving as the only purpose.

This car has a typical supercar design, with the whole car equipped with a large number of aerodynamic kits. The "ride wind" DNA is still engraved in the soul of the brand Lotus. We can see the exaggerated front apron, smooth roofline, huge rear wing and diffuser.

Lotus claims that the target weight for this supercar is to be kept below 1600kg, in order to achieve this goal, only ten materials were used throughout the car, whereas traditional cars usually require one hundred. It is said that these ten materials include glass fiber, carbon fiber, titanium alloy, glass, rubber, aluminum and so on. In terms of body size, the length, width and height of this car are 4490mm, 2000mm and 1140mm respectively.

Theory 1 has a unique sliding butterfly door that opens up to provide a huge opening, and inside we can see three seats provided. Rather than calling them seats, passengers are literally sitting on the carbon fibre body of the car, with only symbolic provision of limited lumbar support and headrest. Even so, Lotus's design deputy managing director Ben Payne said, "We don't want it to be too extreme, scare people."

Of course, Payne's point is that the car isn't fully track-focused like an F1, but at least it still offers a HUD, digital display and more functional features. For example, the car also comes with "responsive fabric upholstery", where during driving, if a car approaches from behind you, the seat fabric will lightly tap your shoulder. Notably, the car's 3D-printed headrest also integrates KEF-level speakers.

This car does not have extremely exaggerated power output, the four-wheel drive system's motor has a maximum power of 1000 horsepower, and the acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h is around 2.5 seconds, with a top speed of 322 km/h. The battery uses a 70kWh battery pack, with a range of 402km.

Officially, it has been closely cooperating with Pirelli, AP Racing, and Kyocera SLD Laser Co., Ltd. to bring the P ZERO ELECT tyre designed for high-torque characteristics of pure electric vehicles, a lightweight high-performance carbon-ceramic braking system, as well as laser lighting systems inside and outside the vehicle.
