New Cars and Models Announced by MG for 2023
11 March, [Location] - MG has announced plans to launch six new car models this year, covering a price range of CNY 8-30 thousand, in an effort to cater to the diverse needs of consumers in different cities. The new models will be part of the brand's ongoing efforts to innovate and adapt to changing market trends.
According to official sources, MG has seen significant sales growth over the past two months, with a year-on-year increase of 67%. The company attributed this success to its expanding distribution network, product diversification, and efforts to improve efficiency. Notably, the MG Seven electric vehicle model has achieved a whopping 13.3% comparative increase in sales since it was launched.
In addition to these model launches, MG revealed ambitious plans for business growth and expansion over the next two years. With an investment of CNY 5 billion, the company aims to accelerate its entrepreneurial strategy called "2025 Creative Action Plan," focusing on developing new business channels and products tailored to three- and four-line cities.
The newly announced models boast a range of innovative features that set them apart from their competitors. The MG Seven has expanded dimensions (lxBxC) measuring 4884/1889/1447mm, with an axle track length of 2778mm. A cutting-edge dual-screen console combines 10.25-inch digital instrument displays and 12.3-inch touchscreen media systems.
When fully featured, the new MG models will also offer features that enhance safety, comfort, and performance. These include dynamic air resistance panels, retractable doors, a high-end glass sunroof, an exclusive seatback entertainment system, and four-pedal smart driving capabilities, among others.
Powering these vehicles is a range of engines, including a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine with an output of up to 188 horsepower (138 kW) and a maximum torque of 300 Nm, paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission system. Another option available will be a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine that produces 261 horsepower (192 kW), coupled with a nine-speed manual transmission.
The MG ES5 is an all-electric model based on AWE's hydrogen-based "starcloud" platform, boasting longer and narrower designs than the latest predecessors. It measures 4476mm x 1849mm x 1621mm and has a wheelbase of 2730mm.
In terms of performance, a single electric motor will power the ES5 for long distances. Among its other technical highlights, it can have batteries with different capacities of 49.1kWh or 62.2kWh, where CLTC course tests show an endurance distance up to 525km under ideal driving conditions.
