Beijing to Launch New Energy Vehicle Allocation in May
The Beijing municipal transportation commission has announced plans to launch the 2025 allocation of new energy vehicle permits on May 26th for residents who do not currently own a vehicle. The city aims to stimulate demand and increase access to personal mobility by offering more flexible permission configurations.
According to the notification, 10,000 units of new energy vehicles will be allocated in Beijing this year, including an additional 4,000 units specifically for households without cars. This move is part of an effort to promote sustainable development and address concerns of citizens who rely heavily on public transportation.
The allocation of ordinary and new energy vehicle permits will follow these configurations:
- Ordinary vehicle permits will be divided into three categories: household, personal, and corporate, with a total quota of 19,200 units. The application process will involve a single-pool lottery system, with each unit serving as one-time access.
- New Energy Vehicle permits for households are planned to begin on May 26th, while new energy vehicle permit plans for individuals will be made available subsequently.
Additional details reveal further expansion to assist in improving affordability measures by the Beijing municipality.
