Car Sales Plummet: GM Delivers Record Low of 902,700 Vehicles in 2024, Down 23% from Last Year

Volkswagen Group Delivers 9.27 Million Vehicles in 2024, a Decline of 2.3% from Last Year

The Volkswagen Group delivered approximately 902,700 vehicles in 2024, representing a decline of 2.3% compared to the previous year.

In Western Europe, sales fell by 0.4%, with 32,590,000 vehicles delivered. On the other hand, North American markets saw a significant growth, surpassing 10.57 million units, growing 6.4% year-over-year. The Chinese market experienced a decline of 9.5%, with 29,280,000 vehicles sold.

According to Herbert Diess,Chairman of the Board of Management and General Motors Chairman of the Volkswagen Group, the company is now entering "maturity phase" for deliveries as of next year. The production strategy involves bringing first Audi mass-produced model into market in coming year; showing first prototypes over CMP platform; unveiling car series of Doppelspitze class with new cars on PPE electric drive platform. Furthermore the delivery model goes over an extension version, expected to appear in early 2026.

Volkswagen Group China reported total deliveries of more than 290,000 vehicles among all brands within Chinese market that exceeded sales expectations. On a global scale, Volkswagen Group delivered approximately 9 million units, and its subsidiary saw more than 900,000 units sold by year-end.

VW Group China revealed they managed to deliver over 20,000 new energy vehicles in the Chinese market last year, including ID electric car model which increased at last of 17% against previous year. Meanwhile, on the fuel side, Volkswagen Group's fuel vehicle sales expanded by around twenty-one percent globally within a single-year.

"We are concerned about competition intensifying and prices decreasing this time next year", said Herbert Diess CEO of Board of directors of managing director of Volkswagen Group (China) who is also Chairman of Board.

"In order to achieve growth in profitability, we will not compromise on price when it comes down to sales numbers. As sales volume cannot measure quality of progress, Our true concern are always Profit margins."
