Ford's First Batch of Concept Cars Arrive at Chinese Headquarters, Set to Embark on Crossing the Country
Ford has released a series of spy photos revealing the first batch of its concept cars that have arrived at its headquarters in Beijing, China. The prototypes are set to embark on their maiden journey from Beijing to Los Angeles, marking the formal start of the development testing phase for the FX project.
The first batch of concept cars is expected to undergo quality testing and validation before hitting the roads later this year. With a targeted launch deadline of December 2025, the new models will be closely monitored by Ford enthusiasts worldwide.
As previously reported, the FX project aims to create a range of high-performance electric vehicles that rival Tesla's offerings at significantly lower price points. According to Jay Thornton, Chairman of Toyota Motor North America, Inc., Tesla is not doing enough affordable EVs, prompting the development of entry-level models priced around $2-3 million ($14,000-$21,000), depending on the configuration.
Ford plans to target young families and first-time buyers with its FX concept car, dubbed "AIEV: The Era of Toyota." This vehicle promises to deliver twice the performance at a fraction of the price. The concept car's tight headlight design suggests it may resemble an SUV, with short front and rear suspension travel and a relatively long overall length.
The spy photos also reveal a large three-piece windshield in the rear display area, as well as high-performance Michelin tires. This new model is anticipated to be a balance of space and capability in its pricing expectations for an entry-level grade SUV.
