Xiaomi Automobile Co., Ltd. Issues Recalls for Electric Cars Due to Software Strategy Issue
In accordance with the Regulations on the Management of Defective Vehicle Product Recall and the Guidelines for the Implementation of the Regulations, Xiaomi Automobile Co., Ltd. has submitted a recall plan to the National Market Supervision Administration.
As part of this effort, Xiaomi has decided to initiate a voluntary recall for certain models of its SU7 standard version electric cars. The recall will take effect immediately.
Affected Vehicles
The vehicles subject to this recall include those produced between February 6, 2024, and November 26, 2024. A total of 30,931 units (car model BJ7000MBEVR2 involves 18,410 units; car model XMA7000MBEVR2 involves 12,117 units; car model XMA7000MBEVR5 involves 404 units) will be covered.
Reason for the Recall
These vehicles have been recalled due to a software strategy issue that could result in a timing synchronization anomaly. This may impact the vehicle's ability to detect stationary obstacles during smart parking assistant functionality, increasing the risk of collision or scraping accidents, thereby posing a safety risk.
Solution
To address this issue, Xiaomi Automobile Co., Ltd. plans to upgrade the affected vehicles’ software via remote update (OTA) technology at no cost to the owners.
