Changan Automobile Unveils European Debut in Germany
Changan Automobile, a leading Chinese automaker, recently held an unveiling event for its European market presence at the German city of Erfurt. The three brands – Changan, Deepal, and Avatr – made their official debut in Europe.
The company has announced its plans to launch nine new models across the continent, with the first one being the Deepal S07 set to arrive in Q2 2024 as a pure electric and plug-in hybrid dual-mode powertrain option. Over the next three years, Changan Automobile aims to introduce eight more products into the European market.
Changan Automobile has outlined its plans for the region, which include localizing product development and manufacturing on-site. The company plans to build over 1,000 sales service outlets across Europe and employ more than 1,000 local staff by end-2024. Additionally, Changan will be introducing a comprehensive service framework called "withU" for European customers.
The Changan Automobile brand has ambitious expansion plans, with the goal of establishing itself in at least ten European markets by 2025. In Germany, it has welcomed its first dealership partner; in the UK, plans are underway to launch over 60 sales centres by end-2025. A memorandum of understanding has been signed between Changan and KUHNE+NAGEL/Allianz Partners for logistics assistance and insurance services.
Changan Automobile achieved a record-high annual sales volume of 26.83 million vehicles in 2024, representing a year-on-year increase of 5.1% and marking the fifth consecutive annum of growth over the previous year. The new energy division has sold 73.5 million units, with a year-on-year increase of 52.8%. Overseas exports have reached 53.6 million vehicles, up by 49.6% compared to last year.
The company's goals for 2025 include selling up to 300 million vehicles globally and reaching annual revenues of RMB3 trillion, with an estimated self-owned new energy sales volume of 100 million units and overseas exports exceeding 10 million units.
