New Ford Ecosport Faces Competition from Longyuan Hafei Chenglang MAX and Hyundai Kona Electric in Mid-Sized SUV Segment
On March 21, the second-generation Longyuan Hafei Chenglang MAX, a mid-sized SUV, has started its pre-sale campaign. The vehicle will be available in five trims, with prices starting at around 13.88 yuan (approximately 2,100 USD) and going up to 17.68 yuan (approximately 2,600 USD).
The new model features a modern "Dynamic Natural Beauty" design language, inspired by nature, water, stars, and meteors. The vehicle is equipped with the latest second-generation Hi4 plug-hybrid four-wheel-drive system, which boasts 28 upgrades over its predecessor.
Design-wise, the new car has a more aggressive front-end with new LED headlights that have been dubbed "Dindar's Light". They boast an impressive 72 LEDs and provide a luminous beam that shines bright through fog.
At first glance, it is noticeable that the chassis side profile and rear design are reminiscent of the fins of a dolphin. The body combines both bio-inspired curves with aerodynamics principles to efficiently reduce wind resistance. A particular highlight in this regard is the use of high-aspect-ratio fins that minimize drag across various speed environments.
Engine size for this model starts at 1.5 liters, along with two additional battery packs making up an efficient powertrain combining hybrid electric and gasoline power units - known collectively under its Hi4 moniker.
