China to Publish List of New Energy Vehicles Eligible for Tax Breaks
The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) has announced plans to publish a list of new energy vehicles that will be eligible for tax breaks, including electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles. The list, which is set to be released soon, is expected to include several new models from major manufacturers.
Among the vehicles listed are cars with pure electric ranges disclosed for the first time, including models from brands such as Cadillac, Chery, BYD and Geely's flagship brand flag.
One of the cars included on the list is the Cadillac GL8 LS, a plug-in hybrid MPV that boasts a 111km range on electric power alone. Another entry is Chery's new S800 model, which has an astonishing 272km or 331km of pure electric range, depending on its trim level.
Geely's brand flag will also be represented, with the S8 sedan featuring 195km and 201km of pure electric range. BYD will make a splash as well, with its family-friendly Qin PLUS DM-I and Panther model (known locally as the '05) showcasing range figures of 43km and 90km respectively.
The list also includes several models from Longhuan sub-brand. The longan 800 S09 SUV will be included in the first batch at a range to be announced shortly after public release, with another new addition being the S06 Avita's electric model for which information is not readily available yet.
A total of 29 brands are expected to be part of this round of models that will get added to the China government's database, including several top brands from Europe based on our knowledge currently,
