Bao Qi Honda P7 & Dongfeng Honda S7 Sales Hailed in March, With Huawei Telematics Integration on the Cards

Two Upcoming Honda SUVs Announced for Q1 Launch Next Year

Two significant Honda SUV models, the P7 and S7, are set to debut in March of next year. These two vehicles have been planned under different manufacturer flags – Geely-owned Guangqi Honda and Dongfeng Honda.

Both vehicles are believed to include Honda Sensing 360+ high-level advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) as well as the ParallelDrive system developed by Hyundai (Huawei).

Guangqi Honda’s P7 model measures at 4750 x 1930 x 1625mm, with a wheelbase of 2930mm, categorizing it under the mid-size SUV segment. With dual electric motors attached to this vehicle, each is reported to have its own maximum ratings – the front motor maxes out at 150 kilowatts and the rear one does so at 200 kilowatts. For this car, Guangqi Honda has approved production under the National Development and Reform Commission's directives and also equipped a Nidec 90kWh ternary lithium battery pack.

The interior of this vehicle features an Es brand advanced display technology. The new P7’s front dashboard has been designed with LED light strips integrated in a wave configuration. Unlike traditional screens which offer much limited depth, this technology presents larger pictures that are viewed both near and far away - 40 inch wide for those up close versus three meters when you look at it from afar. This has 3 times the pixel density found on standard car monitors.

Dongfeng Honda’s S7 model measures at exactly the same dimensions (4750 x 1930 x 1625mm) and wheelbase is also reported to be 2930mm. They are positioned as mid-size SUVs. In a notable first for this range, DongFeng Honda has integrated LED daytime running lights that can be seen from different parts of the road. Their side-slit lighting system paired with an enlarged car hood displays not only enhance visibility in driving conditions but they also serve to give off a strong modern silhouette.

Design-wise, both cars look much sleeker than any SUVs on this size scale. The instrument cluster has flat edges that make for an elegant view while it doesn’t use traditional liquid crystal monitors as used by some other car models. Instead of providing limited depth - it displays more vibrant visuals through large 3-meter sized screens with higher pixel density.

The interior space is spacious enough for five adults without the rear seats folded down, offering ample interior room for a medium-sized family sedan. Interior design will focus on an open cockpit style, integrating both a steering wheel center console and dual-side mirror controls which will help users navigate through their daily journeys more easily.

From technical comparisons it’s clear that Dongfeng Honda may try to out-mass-market Guangqi with wider appeal of interior space, while the latter offers more aggressive exterior styling due, amongst everything else, to higher output electric engines. The specifications and exact figures on each car model can thus be released closer in line with our upcoming expectations if market requirements demand it.
