BYD Mepple Smart: Compact Electric SUV to Debut March 5th with Upgraded Look, Features, and Tech

The newly unveiled BYD Mepple smart, codenamed as "PLUS Plus," is scheduled to arrive by March 15th. The production version will mark a significant upgrade in appearance, interior design, and features.

Exterior-wise, the front fascia features more aggressive contours under the bonnet, new LED headlights with blackened glass elements, resulting in a drastically changed overall look. Side profile updates include optimized bumper molds, re-finished chrome accent on the side mirrors and pillars, whereas new 19-inch alloy wheels replace its predecessor.

In an effort to give it a modern appearance it now stands beside other cars from manufacturers like Mercedes Benz, BMW etc. The rear end design boasts similar Chinese knot-like LED light clusters as seen on Chinese cars. Rear profile is also redesigned with enhanced underfloor aerodynamics and larger exhaust outlet for improved drive dynamics.

Inside the vehicle the interior is sleek and organized. Gone are the textured finishes; in their place are smoother surfaces and a more minimalist aesthetic. There's much expansion to the boot space thanks to added rear storage compartments which can provide both heating and cooling functionality for your personal items while on the road. Central infotainment area simplifies by moving away from traditional trim levels, featuring several color schemes including "light misty" and "cloud gray." Additionally new seats incorporate integrated back support with enhanced arm rests.

Electrification at its core the car boasts state-of-the-art driver assistance technology that helps automate driving for a more comfortable vehicle experience. Furthermore comes advanced features like touch-sensitive dash displays and wireless charging capabilities. Power and battery performance however will be derived from an engine type known as the "TZ200 XSQ" with output to reach 150 kW maximum efficiency.
