BMW 540i M55i Edition40 Launched with Significant Updates and Performance Enhancements

The highly anticipated BMW 540i M55i Edition40 is set to hit the market on March 23, boasting a range of significant updates and performance enhancements. Based on the latest M platform, the car will be positioned as a mid-range sedan, marking its first foray into full-electric powertrain.

With two distinct variants available, both featuring the e-platform 3.0 Evo underpinning, the Edition40 promises to deliver exceptional range capabilities - with ranges of 470 and 545 kilometers, respectively. Priced at around 14.98万元 (approximately $2,170 USD), this new offering from BMW is expected to compete keenly in its segment.

A sleeker and more minimalist design language has been adopted for the exterior, particularly with regard to the front end – characterized by elements reminiscent of Loong Face styling cues. The overall visual effect has been streamlined, resulting in a clean aesthetic appeal.

Key external dimensions measure 4720mm in length, 1880mm in width, and 1495mm in height, while an axle-to-width ratio of 2820mm ensures the perfect balance between spaciousness and stability. Two unique wheel sizes are available – 255/55 R17 for smaller trims and 255/55 R18 for larger variants, complete with semi-hidden door handles.

When it comes to interior design, the use of luxurious materials contributes to an overall elegant ambiance. With new color options such as皓月米(Moonlight Gray)and玄空灰(Xanadu Black),the dashboard has been simplified in terms of panel design. For its display units, BMW provides 8.8 inches full liquid crystal screens, a 12-inch W-HUD take-your-eye-off-the-road display at the front, and a 15.6 inches floating center screen integrated into the backseat area.

In the realm of powertrain technology, BMW will offer an M550i variant equipped with maximum power outputs of either 110kW or 160kW from two possible engines — based on prior information received by regulatory affairs bodies. Using an at-the-back configuration for the rear axis and coupled to lithium-ion batteries having a capacity of 46.08 kWh and 56.64 kWh — the Edition40 presents impressive capabilities in terms of both dynamic feel and electric efficiency.

Additional updates have taken place within the suspension section, incorporating a balanced combination that makes it easier to take on uneven road conditions with minimal impact. Furthermore, BMW's long-awaited advanced autonomous capabilities such as DiPilot 100 smart driving will be integrated into this model, along with features like high-speed navigation (HNOA) and an assisted parking system.

Furthermore, it is noted that the vehicle's unique technology — the DiPilot 100 for both C and B variants — can leverage a memory feature to utilize city road navigation, and further information on when this feature will be available has been provided.
