BYD Xia in Chinese: A Comprehensive Overview of the Latest Electric MPV
The eagerly anticipated BYD Xia, an electric multi-purpose vehicle (MPV), is set to make its official debut on January 8th. This new addition to the brand's lineup has been positioning itself as a middle-to-large-sized MPV with plug-in hybrid variants. Prices for the Xia are expected to start at around 30,000 yuan.
Key features of the Xia include the "Fridge," "Color TV," and "Big Sofa", thanks to its fifth-generation DM technology platform, paired with the latest cloud-connected vehicle control system. The entire lineup comes equipped with BYD's signature "Eye of the Gods" advanced driver assistance system, DiPilot 100.
Exterior Design
The Xia retains the iconic BYD royal family design aesthetic, with a distinctive dragon-like grille pattern, giving it a bold and regal appearance. The central LED light is adorned with metallic accents that flow seamlessly across the front of the car. In contrast to its predecessors, the new Xia has developed an advanced styling language in line with modern tastes.
The Xia boasts side panels with a dynamic waistline flowing throughout, complemented by strong shoulder lamps and underlined by elegant chrome stripes on the doors.
Size
Height, width, and length are measured at 1805mm, 1970mm, and 5145mm respectively. Its overhang ratio is significantly reduced, offering better all-views of its large wheels.
The rear features a reimagined classic royal family design, inspired by dragon scales, adding an unmistakable presence to the lineup.
Interior
Inside the car, an advanced multi-screen system is featured with a DiLink 150 seating unit. The interior boasts elegant clean lines, following the new family pattern in line with modern tastes and advanced materials such as Nappa leather that adds up to cloud-like comfort with features such as ventilation and heating for all seats.
The center console offers ample convenience for passengers thanks to smart features like memory function. Furthermore, the seating is equipped with a multi-function design with four-wheel adjustability while the driver seat also comes equipped with massage capabilities to enhance the driving experience.
Underpinnings
Engine performance is offered by power units paired with its fifth-generation DM platforms and associated cloud technologies to manage efficiency.
In particular, BYD has opted for one 1.5T engine paired with electric motors of maximum rated capacity at 200kW and battery size 36.5 kWh using phosphate iron battery technology to offer pure electrical range of up to 180km, with fuel efficiency averaging approximately 6.4/100km.
Furthermore, the Xia is also equipped with a cloud-connected vehicle control system allowing for smarter driving experiences through automated anti-slip features offered by its proprietary “天神之眼” cloud-connected smart assistance DiPilot 100 system, adding to its value-driven price tag of around 30,000 yuan
