The new generation model is of great significance to BMW, representing the most advanced automotive manufacturing technology and forward-looking innovative ideas. It has laid a solid foundation for BMW's future several generations of vehicles, with far-reaching impact. The trial production is an important time node before formal mass production. BMW will go through about one year of trial production process to detect and perfect products and processes, and make continuous improvements on products and production processes before large-scale formal mass production, in order to improve production efficiency and ensure product quality. Worth noting is that conducting trial production ahead of time is a "regular operation" for BMW before any model goes into production. The smooth start of trial production means that the new generation of BMW models will arrive as scheduled.
On the new generation of BMW models, all mainstream technologies in today's new energy market will be implemented one by one. For example, the application of sixth-generation eDrive electric drive technology is a major highlight of the new generation of BMW models, with comprehensive efficiency improved by more than 25% compared to the previous generation. The power battery based on cylindrical cells has an energy density increased by more than 20% compared to the previous rectangular cells. The voltage platform of the new generation of vehicles' batteries, power systems and charging technology will also be upgraded to 800V, significantly optimizing DC fast charging efficiency. As a result, the high-pressure power battery's charging time from 10% to 80% has been reduced by as much as 30% compared to the previous generation.
The new generation model will adopt the latest design language of the BMW Group and be equipped with a brand-new generation of BMW iDrive human-machine interface. The brand-new BMW iDrive brings users an intelligent human-machine interaction experience through four major interactive interfaces inside the car, making communication and exchange between people and cars become extremely natural. These four major interactive interfaces include: BMW Panoramic View Bridge, Central Information Display Screen, 3D View Front Scene Display, as well as a brand-new multifunctional steering wheel. The brand-new generation of BMW iDrive human-machine interface is a modern interpretation of the classic "driver-centered" design principle of BMW, committed to opening up a new development direction for human-car interaction.
BMW Group's Board of Management member, Dr. Werner Fürst, said: "The new generation models will take the BMW driving experience to a whole new level." Notably, the new generation models from BMW will be equipped with a brand-new electronic control unit and paired with BMW's newly developed Dynamic Performance Control system. The system will come with industry-leading chip processors and software algorithms, helping drivers to have more precise and efficient control over their vehicles, continuing to deliver pure driving pleasure in an electric era to customers.
In terms of environmental attributes, the new generation models will widely apply environmentally friendly materials, reducing dependence on natural resources and impact on the environment. At the same time, product production processes will also attach great importance to environmental protection, through advanced technologies and strict management, reduce energy consumption and waste emissions. This time, the Hungarian Debrecen factory was the first to use a series of environmentally friendly technologies in its painting workshop, effectively reducing resource consumption and lowering impact on the environment. The Shenyang new generation model production base will also adopt similar technologies in the future, reducing carbon emissions at the production stage.
